Chargers finally hold on to second-half lead to beat Broncos
Fantasy Impact After giving up a 12-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to open the game, the Broncos’ defense absolutely stifled Philip Rivers and the Chargers’ offense on Thursday night.

Despite a standout effort by their defence, who held Denver to just three points in the first three quarters, San Diego couldn’t capitalise on short fields, kicking four field goals as they failed to score a touchdown after their first drive.
Sure, NFL ratings have been down and Broncos vs. Chargers wasn’t exactly a thrilling Thursday night matchup (at least, early on). Melvin Gordon rushed for 94 yards, rookie tight end Hunter Henry grabbed six catches for 83 yards, and the defense put up a strong effort for most of the night. The Chargers had lost 10 straight games to AFC West opponents and dropped nine of their last 10 games with the Broncos.
The second-year quarterback piloted the Broncos to a 4-0 start but was injured in the first half of Denver’s Week 4 visit to Tampa Bay.
But the San Diego supporters had the last laugh after the hosts claimed a 21-13 win, despite a late fightback from the Broncos. But they have a system in place, and I know a lot of coaches on their staff.Prior to the game, the Super Bowl 50 winners were undefeated, and they have been so dating back December of 2015. “You get labeled a bad team, and I know some of the mistakes we’ve made, that is what bad teams do, that is what 1-4 teams do”. The Broncos gained just 84 yards rushing, their second-lowest output of the season.
SD-Lambo 37 yard field goal, 10:35.
The penultimate series ended in fitting fashion for the Broncos: another holding penalty, a sack, another fumble. Lowery said the Chargers have to get better in those situations later in the year. Travis Benjamin probably lost his punt return responsibilities after waving one off in the second quarter, only to have it hit him and the Broncos recover.
Denver got a 46-yard field goal from Brandon McManus with 27 seconds left to make it 21-13, then recovered an onside kick. “We’ve just got to keep doing that”.In an August feature for Stroke Smart, Kubiak said he was given a clot-busting thrombolytic drug while hospitalized in 2013 and, after a couple of days, felt normal. The refs initially ruled that the Broncos downed the punt, but Denver challenged and got the ball. McCoy improved to 25-31 overall in four seasons. Last such loss came when Tim Tebow was the starting quarterback against the Oakland Raiders.
ANTHEM WATCH: Chargers players Joe Barksdale, D.J. Fluker, Chris Hairston, Joshua Perry and Tyreek Burwell held up their right fists during the national anthem.
The Falcons and Chargers both attacked Denver’s linebackers, and at times their safeties, in pass coverage.

INJURY UPDATES. Offensive tackle Russell Okung and wide receiver Cody Latimer suffered concussions in the Broncos’ loss at San Diego on Thursday and are in the National Football League concussion protocol program, DeCamillis said. He was back in for the next Broncos possession.
