“We’ve anticipated this filing from the Rams for more than a year”.

Rams owner Stan Kroenke wants to build a stadium in Inglewood. For instance, maybe the Chargers or Raiders partner with the Rams’ partner in Inglewood and some sort of financial considerations are diverted to Oakland to help the Raiders secure a stadium deal.

A task force formed by Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon made its formal pitch last week, sending a almost 400-page prospectus to the National Football League offices.

The Chargers and Raiders have teamed on a joint venture for a stadium in Carson, Calif. Los Angeles, the nation’s second-largest market, hasn’t had a team since the Raiders and Rams left after the 1994 season. An improvement to a 7-9 record that included a. 500 record in the tough AFC West enough for the first year coaching staff of the team to be brought back for next season.

Monday which was the first day the three franchises could apply for relocation. That has led to the interest in going back to Los Angeles, where the Raiders played from 1982-94. “Each team submitted the appropriate documentation in support of its application as required by the NFL Policy and Procedures for Proposed Franchise Relocations”.

MOVING TIME: The biggest question surrounding the Raiders is where they will play next season. San Diego’s plan calls for a public vote later this year, and Oakland only sent a letter saying the city is discussing options but had no formal proposal.

“I think that is what really was the catalyst that got this whole thing going because when the Rams decided to make their move there, this was a move to protect our business more than anything”, Spanos said.

Raiders fans had been bracing for the team to make official its designs on Los Angeles, but many were still disappointed to once again see the team trying to leave.

“I think we’re very close”, Del Rio said. “None are set in stone”.

Brees, who has a house in San Diego and trains there in the offseason, was asked if he would be disappointed that he never returned to Qualcomm Stadium after leaving the Chargers. Neither St. Louis nor Oakland released statements Monday night on their applications.

“That was certainly an area I had hoped by this point would be further along”, Del Rio said. A final decision on which team, or teams, gets to move could come from that meeting.

The Chargers walked away from negotiations with the city and county in mid-June.

In advance of the owners meeting in Houston on the 12th, the committee on Los Angeles will met in New York City Wednesday and Thursday to evaluate the latest stadium plans and make its recommendations on a stadium site and possibly which teams meet the relocation guidelines.

“There’s still a lot of information we need to look at”, Hunt said shortly before his playoff-bound Chiefs played Oakland in a regular-season finale. No matter what city is put in front of it, we love Oakland. We’ll go through all that this week.
