Authorities were considering Tuesday whether to seek criminal charges against a woman whose pit bull dogs mauled to death her 9-year-old brother in California.

24-year-old Alexandra Griffin-Heady left the child alone on Sunday and went to work, according to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department.
“It was just a horrific, tragic accident”, Stephanie Harvey, Alexandria Griffin-Heady’s adoptive mother said.
Griffin-Heady was too distraught to come out of her trailer on Monday and talk about what happened. She got approved for weekend visits with her brother with the goal of later adopting him.
“With the circumstances – of Ally not being mature enough – not able to handle a nine-year-old. The mother dog was not in the kennel, but the other two somehow got out of their kennel in the RV”, Marquez said.
The boy was found dead by his sister at 10 a.m. Sunday, three hours after she had left the trailer for a short shift at her security guard job.

Video showing Griffin-Heady playing with her three dogs, an older dog and two young pit bulls was posted on YouTube.
The details don’t sit well with undersheriff Jerry Read.
“I know his level of supervision when he was with me, the directive was for constant supervision and given that, leaving Tyler alone at all, wasn’t the right thing to do”. Tyler was rushed to hospital, but later died.
The pit bulls were taken from the trailer and are now with animal services. “He wanted one of their puppies”, Griffin-Heady said.
“It’s shocking to me”, said neighbor Dwayne Daniel.

Daniel says the last time he looked over his neighbor was playing with her dogs. Officials say they are waiting to get written consent from the dogs’ owner or a court order before they’re put down.
