Charges expected against San Bernardino Shooters’ Neighbor

Marquez told FBI investigators that he and Farook plotted a terror attack in 2012, but shelved the plans after four people were arrested and charged in a plot to commit jihad against US military bases overseas, according to ABC News. But sources told the News there was no paperwork proving Marquez legally swapped the weapons to the murderous couples.

Records show that previous year Marquez married Mariya Chernykh, who is the sister of the wife of Syed Raheel Farook, the suspect’s brother. Because some of the killers’ cell phones and computer equipment were intentionally damaged in an apparent attempt to thwart investigators, the official said information, in part provided by Marquez, had assisted authorities in identifying Farook’s radicalization process to a period before he began communicating with Malik online, more than two years before the San Bernardino attacks.

The attack, which left 21 people wounded, has stirred concerns among Americans about national security and the reach of Islamic State, becoming an issue in the USA presidential campaign.

Police in San Bernardino, California, tweeted a warning Wednesday that there was an active shooter situation.

Farook and Malik were buried on Tuesday following a quiet, graveside Islamic ceremony guarded by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents.
