Police will file a murder complaint against a male suspect in connection with the recent blast in Davao in the Philippines.
“Our investigation is local and concentrated on the bombing”, he told reporters during a press conference at the Davao City police office on Wednesday morning. Michael Dubria said the charges have been readied but there were certain documents that have to be accomplished first before these will be brought to the city prosecutor’s office for processing. The taxi driver is one of the vital witnesses.
“We are always coordinating with the families of the victims and everybody is cooperative because they are very angry and they want justice”, Dubria said.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said authorities have identified the bomber who left the backpack full of explosives that went off. He also declined to provide details whether the suspect is linked to a known terror group in Mindanao. At one point, the suspect also took off his face mask.
“We are so lucky that our witness has identified the prime suspect based on our rogue gallery”, he added.
Aside from putting up more CCTV cameras, de Leon said, security forces also discussed the rationalization of the checkpoints, to have police and military visibility, and more mobile patrols.
De Leon, however, said that apart from burqas, caps, bonnets, sunglasses and other bodily accessories that could hide a person’s identity would be ordered taken off upon entering malls and other establishments. “He can not make them follow, so we have to do it for him”. He said the evidences they have “are purely circumstantial”.
Officials said they are confined at six different hospitals in the city.
The City’s Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) said 10 of the 19 patients are still being treated at the SPMC, one at the Brokenshire Hospital, one at Davao Doctors Hospital, another at Ricardo Limso Hospital, two at Davao Medical School Foundation, and five at the San Pedro Hospital.
