Charisma News: Christians Launch So-Called Sin-Free Facebook Alternative
Well, everyone knows that internet is a pretty sinful place and the adult content very often finds its way onto Facebook, Instagram and their likes. The team behind the world’s purist form of social networking. Also, instead of a “Like” button, Facegloria is equipped with an “Amen” button users can use to express their appreciation regarding a post.
Speaking to AFP, Atilla Barros, Facegloria’s web designed, said: “On Facebook you see a lot of violence and pornography”.
While Facebook’s Community Standards strictly prohibit bullying and any kind of hate speech, including content attacking people based on their sexual orientation-and has even been accused by some religious groups of removing “anti-gay” posts-Facegloria users are unabashedly banned from posting content that promotes homosexuality.
Barros said he came up with the idea for Facegloria while working with three other colleagues for the mayor of Ferraz de Vasconcelos, Acir dos Santos, who also invested more than $16,000 dollars to get the project started. “We want all Brazilian evangelicals to shift to Facegloria”, said Barros.
Evangelism has been growing in Brazil, and today 42 million Brazilians out of the 202 million population identify as Evangelicals.
While it may have gained support more quickly than some of its rivals, FaceGlória is not the first alternative network created to filter out impiety.
Facegloria, which has attracted 100,000 users so far, is under constant surveillance by 20 volunteer patrol users, who look to eliminate bad language, risqué selfies and bikini photos from the website, according to The Telegraph.
Sites like FaceGloria and and Ummaland offer a platform for religious groups to grow and communicate in a comfortable setting, which is valuable.

While now only available in the Portuguese language, the founders have already purchased the domain rights to an English version of Facegloria, with plans for worldwide expansion.
