Charleston Southern suspends 14 for Florida State game
Dalvin Cook reeled off his first unbelievable touchdown of the season to go along with another score, Travis Rudolph got himself two touchdowns and overall, the team executed how it should. “I certainly didn’t realize this was falling through the cracks that way at all or we wouldn’t have done it”. “Hopefully, we got out here healthy, we represented ourselves well and we get our check (from Florida State) on the way out”. Chanin Hamilton carried the ball nine times for 53 yards.

On defense, the Seminoles received a game-high five tackles and two sacks from freshman Brian Burns, who helped corral CSU’s rushing attack to just 152 yards on 39 attempts. Francois also tossed his first career interception midway through the second quarter, but, by then, FSU was well on its way to a lopsided victory.
With only four full days between games and two practices, half of the normally allotted four in a game week, Francois impressed while dealing with a minor knee injury sustained against Ole Miss.
Dalvin Cook ran for two touchdowns and had 83 yards on 11 carries. Poor Robert Mitchell and London Johnson, CSU’s quarterbacks, got their fair share of big hits.
Florida State paid Charleston Southern $475,000 for the game. Sixteen players have already served the one-game suspension, while another 14 will sit out this weekend’s game against Florida State University. “I was very anxious to see how he did that and, for the most part, he seemed to do very well”. “It’s unfortunate because I think it puts the focus on some other things instead of the good things that our team is doing and that our university is doing for us”.
“Other schools do similar things, and some teams even in our own conference get cost of attendance”, Korn wrote.
The Buccaneers were No. 6 in the STATS FCS Preseason Top 25 poll, their first preseason ranking in history, after they won the Big South Conference in 2015.
After the game, FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher commended the Buccaneers’ play and remembered a time when the Seminoles were in a similar situation. Burns’ influence on the game was completely undeniable as all efforts by the CSU offensive line to limit his ridiculous speed off the edge proved futile. In the third quarter, sophomore safety Derwin James left the game with an apparent left leg injury and did not return. With the Tigers struggling against Troy State on Saturday, the voters might decide to move the Seminoles up a spot when the latest rankings are released on Monday.
The Seminoles should have an easier time this with the Charleston Southern Buccaneers.
