Apparently, this is a violation of NCAA rules, despite the fact the players claim the CSU bookstore staff told them to use the excess book money before it was taken from them.
Colton Korn, who played his high school football at Byrnes, was among 16 players suspended for Charleston Southern’s game at Florida State Saturday. Charleston Southern is coming off a 57-7 win over Kentucky State after losing a heartbreaker in overtime to five-time defending FCS champion North Dakota State to open its season.
Despite the depleted roster, coach Jamey Chadwell said after his team’s 52-8 loss that he “didn’t want it to be a pity party. We’ve got guys who can make plays”. There’s going to be some new guys. I’m learning a lot, play by play. “I thought we were efficient on third down and in the red zone”. It’s heartbreaking for me.
“Now the school and NCAA are saying that is against the rules”, Robinson wrote, saying that he was given the option of sitting out against third-ranked Florida State or the conference opener the next weekend. “So we have to pay a fine and sit out a game”. According to Robinson, he was given the opportunity to sit out this Saturday’s game against Florida State University or an upcoming game against a conference opponent.
Last week, Charleston Southern athletic director Hank Small announced that Chadwell would be suspended for the October 8 game against Albany State for improperly using social media to make contact with a recruit.
Friday, the school revealed punishments for the transgression. This is covered in our own student-athlete handbook.
Cirone wrote that he and the entire offensive line have been suspended.
CHARLESTON SOUTHERN: It is hard enough for an FCS team to compete with a top 25 program with an intact roster, but without almost half of their starters, the Buccaneers at least can say they averted a shutout.
‘The protection of its students/athletes should be a number one priority.
Despite being a top-10 team in the FCS, things look bleak for Charleston Southern.
“It was good to see him get back. We’ll get through it and, hopefully, we’ll represent ourselves well Saturday and try to regroup and get over this”.
Even Chadwell isn’t immune to being disciplined. Fourth-year head coach Jamey Chadwell also is suspended one game for the incident and will sit out against Albany State on October 8.

On Thursday, however, Robinson was informed that he is among 14 players who will serve a one-game suspension on Saturday, effectively crushing his dream.
