Charlotte imposes curfew on third night of protests
Carr was shot in the head around 20.30 local time in downtown Charlotte, a place where riots between protesters and police broke out as a result of the death of African American Keith Lamont Scott on Tuesday who was shot by an officer of the local police.

“I want to thank our faith and religious leaders to keep the protests peaceful”, she said during a press conference Thursday morning.
Scott’s family has claimed, since shortly after the shooting, that Keith Lamont Scott was merely reading a book and never had a gun. Scott was waiting for his 9-year-old son to be dropped off from school, she said. Putney also says the video does not definitively show whether Scott pointed the gun at anyone. Protesters in the southern USA city fled after police with rifles fired the tear gas and what appeared to be rubber bullets, an AFP reporter on the scene said.
For example, a protest at a memorial site for Scott turned violent the first night as attendees began throwing dirt and other objects at nearby police.
The videos show Scott was calm, acting in a non-aggressive manner and slowly walking backward with his hands by his sides when he was shot by police on Tuesday. Be clear: “There is unrest in Charlotte and across America because of what we do know”.
Police said the man, identified as Justin Carr, 26, was wounded on the second night of protests following the death of Scott, 43, who was shot this week as police were searching for a different person with an outstanding warrant, police said.
“If you think we should display a family’s worst day for public consumption, that is not the transparency we’re speaking of”, Putney said. The victim was shot while he stood between two ministers, and we believe he was shot by police.
Vinson was not wearing a body camera but three other officers were and at least one dashcam capture the shooting, police said. Bamberg told reporters that police need to be more transparent in their conversations with the public and with the family. “At this point, there is speculation because the videos have not been released”.
After watching the videos, the family again has more questions than answers.
It is impossible to discern from the videos what, if anything, Mr. Scott is holding in his hands.
Vinson allegedly shot and killed Scott.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Kerr Putney had originally said he didn’t plan to release police video footage of the shooting.
