Charlotte mayor asks Clinton to postpone visit
Hillary Clinton’s campaign announced late Friday that she is postponing a visit to Charlotte, North Carolina, until early next month.

Hours later, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump’s campaigns said they were dropping plans to visit the city in the upcoming days, though neither campaign mentioned Jennifer Roberts’ plea.
The Democratic presidential nominee’s campaign initially said she would travel Sunday to Charlotte, where protests have broken out after the police shooting.
“If there would be a way to delay these visits in terms of giving us a chance to get our city back to order and back to more of a state of normalcy, that would probably be ideal”, she said. We really appreciate their support.
But Roberts said she and Charlotte council members have been in conversations all week with protesters about their motivations.
“If possible, I would encourage them to come at a later date”, Roberts said, explaining that local law enforcement is strained now. “We appreciate the nation’s support”, she continued.
“After further discussion with community leaders, we have made a decision to postpone Sunday’s trip as to not impact the city’s resources”, the campaign said in a statement.
Clinton will visit Charlotte next Sunday, October 2, “provided circumstances allow”.
Clinton has called for officials in Charlotte to make public a police video showing the shooting of Scott. Amid increased pressure to do so, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has not yet released dashcam footage of the shooting.
Keith Lamont Scott’s death on Tuesday is the latest in a string of police-involved killings of black men that have fueled outrage across America.

The North Carolina GOP also issued a statement in response to Clinton calling for the videos to be released. “We must ensure justice & work to bridge divides”.
