A victor could be declared Wednesday in the Powerball lottery jackpot that has grown to $422 million as no winners have been declared in almost three months.

The $422 million jackpot comes just three weeks after someone won the $540 million Mega Millions jackpot. That ticket correctly matched four of the five white balls and matched the red Powerball.

This is the 8th largest Powerball prize in history.

This is the third Powerball jackpot to crack the list of the 10 largest US lottery prizes of all time in 2016.

“So we’re looking at two top 10 Powerball jackpots back to back, really giving players those big jackpots they really like”.

Powerball tickets cost $2 apiece.

The Powerball jackpot is now a whopping $478 million after no tickets matched all six numbers in Wednesday’s drawing. As a one-time cash payout it’s worth $330.6 million, less taxes.

Purchasing the $1 Power Play option allows a victor to increase lower-tier prizes by a factor of 2, 3, 4 or 5, depending on the Power Play number drawn.

They can not confirm yet whether the gentleman has the winning ticket, but arrangements have been made to meet this week with the national office to check if the ticket is valid, says Koloi.
