Fellow South Korean Q Baek, who clinched her maiden LPGA Tour title at last year’s HanaBank Championship, was alone in second after a birdie at the par-five last earned her a 68.
“I played like three holes in the morning and then another delay, so it was a long day”, Park said. Fighting back pain, she opened with rounds of 66 and 67 and has only two bogeys over the first 54 holes.
Wayne’s Marina Alex was also able to complete her round on Friday, finishing at 2-under.
Kemp, an Australian, bogeyed her final hole for the second straight round.
Hensby matched Whee Kim on Grand National’s Lake Course in the event for players who failed to qualify for the British Open.
“I’m happy that I actually finished the second round today so I have a lot more time to rest tomorrow and just get ready and be fresh for the weekend”, Feng said.
Seeking her first win on the US circuit, the 23-year-old mixed three birdies with a lone bogey to post an 11-under total of 202.
“I think I was a couple shots behind past year too so I don’t mind the position I’m in right now”, Ko said.
But the two rookies have a host of big names chasing them, with current world number one Park In-Bee, former number one Lydia Ko, China’s Feng Shanshan, Korean Chella Choi and American Austin Ernst sharing third on 204. But all it all, it really was a better day. “So tomorrow just one target – 15-under”, she said. But yesterday and today my shots really good and made more putts.. “So really over the last two days that’s the only blemish on the card”.
I am hitting it well.
Choi kept the momentum going into the playoff and needed just one extra hole to come out on top.
