Trains travelling through the station in Elizabeth, NJ, were suspended and homes and businesses evacuated after the suspicious package was found on the tracks, according to CBS local media.

Ahmad Khan Rahami has lived at that address in Elizabeth, which is above a fried chicken store.

As many as five potential explosive devices tumbled out of the backpack when it was emptied, Bollwage said.

Federal investigators in Quantico, Virginia, were continuing to see if there was any connection between the blast and a pipe bomb explosion hours earlier in Seaside Park in neighbouring New Jersey that took place before a charity road race to benefit military personnel. The Chelsea bombs and the earlier one in New Jersey were all rigged to trigger with mobile flip-phone timing devices.

Ryan McCann, of Elizabeth, said that he often ate at the restaurant and recently began seeing the younger Rahami working there more. All those injured were released from area hospitals by Sunday morning, according to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office.

“A bomb exploding in NY is obviously an act of terrorism”, said Mr Cuomo. “We need to get this guy right away”.

The news comes as investigators are also examining a suspicious device found in a rubbish bin near a New Jersey railway station, with the United States on high alert.

NYPD spokesman Peter Donald said authorities were also investigating whether a second device had been found near site of earlier explosion.

The city’s fire department said none of the victims had life-threatening injuries, but witnesses reported seeing victims cut by shrapnel, metal fragments and glass.

Hunt for Clues in “Intentional” Chelsea ExplosionGovernor Cuomo said that close to 1,000 additional New York State Police and National Guard troops will be dispatched to New York to guard transit stations and airports as a precuation following an explosion in Chelsea Saturday night.

As reports emerged of the five detained in NY, the FBI’s NY branch tweeted that no one had been charged.

Ahmad Khan Rahami is wanted in connection with a bombing in New York City.

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama and other world leaders are due to attend the UN General Assembly in NY. Investigators were questioning the five occupants of the vehicle but none had been arrested, officials said.

And what suspect device has been found in New Jersey? .

They later said they saw “no indication” Rahami is part of a terror cell after he was apprehended following a shootout on Monday; de Blasio emphasized that law enforcement officials are not looking for any other suspects at this time.

Not long after the explosion occurred in a dumpster in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City, leaving 29 injured, police pinpointed a “person of interest” after watching surveillance video that showed the same man near the explosion location as well as the spot where a pressure cooker device was found nearby.

The suspects were in a “vehicle of interest” heading east at around 8.45pm Sunday night Eastern Time on the Belt Parkway from the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, the Federal Bureau of Investigation confirmed.
