The saga started when Terry told reporters the club would not give him a new contract in January, saying there wouldn’t be a “fairytale” ending to his wonderful career in the English capital, per the Guardian’s Dominic Fifield.
“This season has been tough for me, very emotional, so thank you for the support”. I want to finish my career here. Listen, I want to stay. “The fans know that”. He is reportedly fielding offers from elsewhere, including cash-rich China.
He acknowledged the adulation by beating the left side of his chest, over his heart and the club crest which adorned his t-shirt. “I’m delighted that Leicester have won it and Tottenham haven’t”, Terry said, to roars from the home fans.
“For Chelsea standards it has been a season with deception”.
The champions from last season were forced to endure a disappointing campaign this term where they failed to win even a single trophy, finishing tenth in the league table with 50 points from 38 matches. He is good enough to still be on the pitch.
The defender was ruled out of Chelsea’s final two Premier League matches after being sent off in the 3-2 defeat at Sunderland on May 7.
“If you can’t show respect and dignity to someone [like Terry], arguably the best player Chelsea have ever had, if you can’t do the right thing thing by someone of that status, I think it’s a unsafe road you’re going down”.
He added: “I want to stay, the club knows that, the fans know that”.
Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink revealed during his press conference on Friday that he had been speaking to the club about Terryinforming them that they needed to “cherish” their legends. He said: “I hope we are ready and don’t listen too much to the music but make some music of our own”.
However, it is uncertain whether Chelsea’s 35-year-old idol will agree to the deal.
“Personally, I hope they will manage to come to a solution”.
Ranieri paid tribute to Terry.

“Not only that, but to play in a team where competition was great for so many years, a team at the top of the (Premier) League and fighting in the Champions League, his consistency levels have put him out ahead of every defender in the Premier League era”.
