Chelsea Clinton: I’m ‘so proud’ to introduce Hillary Clinton at DNC
Trump has been criticized for painting a dark, dystopian view of America during his speech at the Republican National Convention last week. What tone will Clinton take? The election is on November 8. Before becoming a journalist, I even moved to Pennsylvania for a couple of months to volunteer for Barack Obama’s campaign.

Obama belittled the Republican flagbearer as having no economic or foreign policy plans. The video chronicled the deep tragedy and momentous accomplishments of Obama’s presidency, with many moments garnering loud cheers from the crowd.
It was a significant shift in tone after two nights spent reintroducing Mrs Clinton to voters as a champion for children and families, and relishing in her historic nomination as the first woman to lead a major political party into the general election.
Speaking to delegates, Mr Obama offered an alternative to Mr Trump’s vision of the United States as being under siege from illegal immigrants, crime and terrorism and losing its way in the world.
“God bless the United States of America”, Mr Obama said.
“Our country does not feel “great already” to the millions of wonderful people living in poverty, violence and despair”, he said on Twitter. “I’ve told Hillary and I’ll tell you what picks me back up every single time, it’s been you – the American people”.
“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30 000 emails that are missing”.
“Preach!” members of the crowd shouted. This year marks the first time since 1988 that an incumbent president has been popular enough to boost his successor, with Obama enjoying some of the best approval ratings of his presidency. “America isn’t about ‘yes, he will, ‘” he said.
Speakers on Wednesday assailed Mr Trump.
Trump has proposed temporarily banning Muslims from entering the country and building a wall on the border with Mexico to stop illegal immigrants.
But Trump got a boost in opinion polls from his convention.
“Imagine him in the Oval Office facing a real crisis”, she said. “That’s what Hillary Clinton understands – this fighter, this stateswoman, this mother and grandmother, this public servant, this patriot – that’s the America she’s fighting for”. African Americans, of course, who turned out at a higher level than whites did at the last presidential election, they’re going to turn out. “That’s a bunch of malarkey!”
Mr Trump responded by rejecting the president’s optimistic portrayal.
“Trump says he wants to run the nation like he’s running his business?” And it was followed by an unexpectedly effective balance-sheet dissection by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, one billionaire unmasking another. That is the Hillary i know.
