Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas hit back at his critics after scoring twice in extra-time to complete his side’s comeback and fire the Blues into the EFL Cup fourth round at the expense of 10-man Leicester.

“Arsenal is a special fixture because I’ve lived moments there that I’ve never lived in my career”.

Fabregas spent eight years at Arsenal before a 2011 move to Barcelona, who sold him to Chelsea two years ago, and admits he is desperate to play against his former club. There are three days before the game and they have the opportunity to convince me to put them in.

“For me it is important to develop all the squad and not just the 14 players”. “I’m not going to deny I want to play every single minute – it’s what I work for – but the coach chooses the 11 he thinks is best suited to win the game”.

Conte, who took charge at Stamford Bridge in the summer, now favours Nemanja Matic, N’Golo Kante and Oscar in the Chelsea midfield.

Arsenal cruised past Championship side Nottingham Forest, beating them 4-0. Bournemouth were the other top-flight casualties as second-tier Preston won 3-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Denmark striker Simon Makienok.

Cesc Fabregas scored a brace for Chelsea Tuesday.

Stand-in skipper Gary Cahill began the revival on the stroke of half time, while Chelsea’s defence, which had looked shaky as Leicester surged into the ascendency, continued to fix the damage as Cesar Azpilicueta levelled early in the second half. He made it 2-0 in the 34th minute, smashing a volley that bounced over outrushing keeper Thibaut Courtois. Perez added two more goals, while Oxlade Chamberlain topped it up with a fourth in the 90th minute.

‘I know what I can do.

The visitors were level in the 49th minute, however, when Cesar Azpilicueta found the top corner with a stunning effort from outside the box to register his first goal since January.

The Spanish forward, who joined from Deportivo La Coruna in August, impressed with his pace and strength throughout, with both qualities particularly evident for the second goal. I didn’t score for a long time and I scored, so it’s okay.
