Chelsea discuss Drogba return with Montreal
Guus Hiddink has urged the Chelsea squad to “look in the mirror” as they attempt to transform their faltering season.

Chelsea welcome Watford to Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day in the Premier League, a team they know have the ability to cause them problems in this troublesome time for the club.
Even though Manchester City have been tipped as the early favuorite’s to land his (Guardiola’s) services, Chelsea chiefs are confident of being able to convince him otherwise.
“It is a few years ago I was here in a similar situation”, he said.
Many factors went into Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s decision to fire manager Jose Mourinho after a frustrating start to the season, not the least of which may have been leaks from the Chelsea locker room to the media of a rift between the Special One and his players. “If you don’t have that desire, please knock on my door and we’ll talk”. Regardless, the Impact will not willingly let go of him after he helped get the team to the playoffs and beat Toronto FC in the first round.
The Impact, whose 2016 season would be seriously compromised if they lost their star player and attraction, responded with a tweet last Friday that read: “The rumour about Didier Drogba is unfounded”. And it is no surprise therefore that Chelsea are being keenly linked with the man who now leads the Premier League scoring charts.
37-year-old Drogba scored 12 goals in 12 regular-season games after joining the Impact, but he could return for a third spell at Stamford Bridge under Guus Hiddink should Chelsea get their way – albeit in a different capacity.
“We would like to thank our supporters for their understanding and their patience”.
“They have a profound obligation to perform”. He is a club legend, is well liked and the players could learn plenty from him. It is also understood, however, that Chelsea will have to make up the shortfall in any wage cut Mourinho accepts at a new club until the end of this season.
The former Chelsea player still has one year remaining on his deal in Montreal.
Ryan Mason returns to the squad for the match against Alex Neil’s side after an ankle injury, while Danny Rose has recovered from the illness that ruled him out of Saturday’s 2-0 win at Southampton.

“I have been asked whether this is a good time to play (United) but I am always wary of that because these type of clubs more often than not bounce back emphatically”, he said.
