Chelsea news: Radamel Falcao defended by his grandmother

Falcao has scored once in nine appearances – most of which have been from the bench – since arriving from Monaco in the summer, adding to the four goals he scored during a similar spell at Manchester United last season.

The grandmother of Radamel Falcao has leaped to the defence of the misfiring Chelsea striker after another hard season in the Premier League.

When asked if she could explain Falcao’s inability to replicate the performances he showed before his cruciate ligament injury in January 2014, Dona Denis King Garcia told El Universal: “I do not understand what happened”.

And the 29-year-old is said to be concerned for his worldwide place having played just 15 minutes of Los Cafeteros’ recent World Cup qualifying double header.

Falcao’s performances for Colombia have matched his mostly useless ones for Chelsea, and so far at least, the Great Falcao Reclamation / Mourinho Vanity Project has been a pretty solid failure.

The following five players would be ideal recruits and would save the Blue season, perhaps even putting them in the title race once again.

Loic Remy, the other senior striker on Chelsea’s books, appears a better back-up to Costa, but if Falcao did depart then Jose Mourinho would then be faced with the hard task of attempting to find another forward at very short notice.
