“Are we title contenders?”

Jordan Henderson scored a sensational goal as Liverpool inflicted the first defeat of Antonio Conte’s Chelsea reign with a 2-1 Premier League victory at Stamford Bridge.

The defeat was Conte’s first since taking charge of the Blues and the former Juventus boss was disappointed with the two goals his side conceded.

Matip, who arrived at Anfield on a free transfer from Schalke over the summer, has revealed that he intends to miss the bi-annual tournament with Cameroon in order to focus on the start of his Liverpool career.

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has told the official Liverpool website he can use more of his qualities in the more central midfield role he has been handed by Jurgen Klopp this season.

Willian turned to his handsome wife to help him get over Friday night’s disappointing 2-1 loss to Liverpool ahead of Chelsea’s trip to Arsenal next weekend. I don’t want to repeat last season. Chelsea have managed only two victories against the Merseyside outfit in the last 9 games between them at Stamford Bridge.

Typically of a sluggish Chelsea performance, Liverpool opened the scoring by catching the hosts napping at the back. “The first goal came after a free-kick which they took very quickly and the second after a throw-in”.

Slack marking left Sadio Mane and Lovren unmarked and it was the Croatian – back in the team after an eye injury – who seized the chance, beating Courtois with an adroit side-foot volley.

Chelsea were galvanised and four minutes later a knock-down from Oscar was controlled by Costa on the edge of the box, but his shot on the spin was straight at Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet.

“It was really nice and it was deserved”, Klopp said. “The spirit is really, around the club, perfect, so we just need to keep working stronger and stronger”.

The goals gave the Reds a 2-0 lead after the first half, which Lovren called Liverpool’s finest 45 minutes thus far in the campaign.

Diego Costa continued his impressive form with his fifth goal in as many games, but it was only enough to be termed as a consolation.

Conte this chose to delay making changes after the 84 minute of the game, when he introduced Cesc Fabregas, Moses and Pedro chasing a later equaliser.

Klopp effect… Liverpool boss really is getting the best out of vital star this season
