Chelsea sack boss after Premier League slump

“The Chosen One” was asked to leave and this was the club’s official statement: “Chelsea Football Club and Jose Mourinho have today parted company by mutual consent”.

Managers’ boss Richard Bevan admitted he was caught cold by Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea exit.

“The facts of the matter remain that Chelsea Football Club is in trouble”, he told Chelsea TV.

Chelsea have revealed that Jose Mourinho was sacked on Thursday because of a rift with the players.

“Anybody, any fan, who loves the club or has any affiliation with the club can understand this club is in trouble”.

Jose Mourinho’s public criticism of Chelsea’s players following their defeat to Leicester City could have been the “final straw” that led to his dismissal, according to ex-Blues star Clive Walker.

Dutch coach Guus Hiddink, employed as Chelsea manager on an interim basis in 2009, is reportedly close to agreeing a return to the club in a similar role.

Chelsea has won just four of 16 Premier League games this season and is rooted in the bottom half of the league with 22 games left in the season. They did it in style and they did it by showing commitment…by sweating tears and blood for the club.

“If you look at the quality of players Chelsea have right now, where they are in the league is ridiculous”.

Costa was also caught by the television cameras throwing his bib towards the manager in frustration when he was an unused substitute against Tottenham Hotspur.

It’s very easy to make that inference but it is not one the club accepts.

The Portuguese, sacked by Chelsea on Thursday afternoon, has long had a soft spot for United and wanted to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson retired from Old Trafford in 2013.

“I’m not speaking about Jurgen, I’ve a good relationship with him and nothing will change that”.

Hiddink had a caretaker spell in charge of Chelsea in the closing months of the 2008-09 season, helping the team win the FA Cup. “I send my best wishes to him, to pass this negative period”.

Mourinho maintained his side had turned the corner in recent weeks, particularly in the Champions League where they progressed to the knock-out stage as the winners of their group.
