Chelsea Signs New £60 million-a-year Sponsorship With Nike
Chelsea’s decision to part ways with Adidas six years early will cost the club £40m in compensation, but the Nike agreement seems to be well worth it.

It was recently revealed that the club had sold more shirts than any other Premier League outfit over the 2015/16 campaign.
Steve Atkins, Chelsea’s director of communications, declined to comment on the deal, which was reported earlier by The Telegraph.
According to a report from Diario Ara, the Catalan giants are closing in on a 10-year, €1 billion contract with Nike, who will continue to make the Blaugrana kit for the next decade.
This comes as a major coup for the Blues after they missed out on the money from the European competitions for the first time in the Abramovic era after finishing 10 this season.

It’s set to be the second biggest kit deal in the Premiership after Adidas’ deal with Manchester United, worth £75 million ($108 million) a season. In 2015, Yokohama Rubber Co. agreed to a five-year, 40 million pounds-per-season agreement to be the team’s principal sponsor. The rest of the Premier League top dogs earn nothing compared to the deal that Chelsea have had, with Arsenal earning £30 million-a-year from Puma and Liverpool now earning £25 million-a-year from Warrior Sports. This statistic would have increased Purslow’s leverage in negotiations with Nike as it proved that Chelsea are clear heavyweights in the commercial world.
