Chelsea V Norwich at Stamford Bridge

Jose Mourinho claims he has lost the right to make changes to his playing squad in the January transfer window because of Chelsea’s disastrous start to the season.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he is confident he retains the trust of owner Roman Abramovich. “I trust the players”, he told a press conference yesterday.

‘I don’t need to clean the dressing room, as I heard was written somewhere. “I don’t need to ask the club to spend any money in January”.

“I think we are going to play very well (against Norwich) and will get a good result”.

“I believe a good moment will arrive”.

Chelsea will look to halt the demise of their Premier League title reign as Norwich City travels to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

Mourinho’s days at Stamford Bridge appear to be numbered but Emenalo says there is a confidence they can overcome their current difficulties without axing the blues boss.

In fairness, Chelsea played considerably better in their last match at Stoke City than they had in many of their previous outings this season, but still came away with nothing after being frustrated by a highly organised and obdurate defensive unit.

Mourinho did at least receive a few good news this week when keeper Thibaut Courtois returned to training after a knee injury although Asmir Begovic will face Norwich. We put ourselves in a great -situawtion together by being champions.

“Sometimes when you come up against the big teams it is hard but we’re still wanting to go up against those teams and put in a good performance and hopefully come away with something”.

“I’m not saying I won’t sign anyone, I’m saying I won’t ask the team to do that”, Mourinho said. Nobody gives a four-year contract if they don’t trust the person. Nobody gives new contracts to players, like we did to so many of them in the last couple of months, if they don’t trust them.

The Chelsea chief has also given his backing to the Premier League’s plans to pay their respects to the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks with a rendition of the French national anthem before kick-off.

The defending champions have got off to a dismal start to the campaign and lie on a dismal 16th place after 12 games.

The Blues need to make a statement coming back from the November worldwide break, still hovering among the depths of the table and facing criticism at every turn.

Cheap gags aside, Chelsea have a midweek game in the Champions League, followed by a trip to White Hart Lane, so things won’t get any easier as the weeks go on.
