Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah makes permanent move to Roma

Salah shone at his first club FC Basel, but made just 19 appearances for Chelsea in total, before catching the eye in Italy.

Chelsea beat Liverpool to the £11m signing of Salah in January 2014, but did not appear to know what to do with the player once they had signed him.

Chelsea have confirmed that Mohamed Salah has completed a permanent move to Roma for an undisclosed fee.

Salah replicated his best form at the Viola and was expected to stay at the Stadio Artemio Franchi for the 2015-2016 campaign.

In June, Chelsea were cleared of wrongdoing over the loan of Salah to Roma following a complaint to Federation Internationale de Football Association by Fiorentina. “Furthermore, Salah will only accept a loan where the club has an obligation to buy him, not an “option” to buy him”.

The Egyptian worldwide spent last season on loan at the Serie A side, and with the Giallorossi retaining the option to make the move a permanent one for €15m, they have chosen to do so.

Salah, then 22, opted for the bright lights of London over the Anfield-based club, and completed his move five days before the 2013/14 mid-season window closed.
