While a 30-year-old auto driver has been killed in the incident, almost ten others have been reportedly injured.

“The duo in the vehicle were not injured because of the air bag popped out”, said an police personnel.
The report adds that Vikas, along with his friend who is said to be a former cricketer’s brother, was returning from a party held at Chepauk. According to reports, the driver who was allegedly drunk, hit a median and lost control. His father is Vijay Anand, a High Court lawyer and member of the Madras Bar Association, who is not practising any more.

Meanwhile, the police arrested a person identified as Vikaas, a second year law student and is the son of an advocate, while the other person managed to escape. “We are investigating”, a police officer told NDTV. Auto drivers Arumugam and Varadhan suffered serious injuries, and were transferred to the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, while the rest were sent to the Royapettah Government Hospital. “The student Vikas Vijayanand was drunk while driving”.
