Chestnut Regains Hot Dog Title

Miki Sudo defended her crown in the women’s division by eating 38 1/2 hot dogs and buns in the allotted 10 minutes.

Joey’s biggest rival, Matt “The Megatoad” Stonie, shockingly beat him at the 2015 contest.

Joey Chestnut has done it, people. With his latest win, Joey has won nine Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contests.

Members of the Direct Action Everywhere organization, came dressed as event supporters, sporting red shirts and white straw hats with the Nathan’s 100th anniversary logo on the band. In third place, the next closest competitor to the stand-out eaters only consumed 41 hot dogs.

Sudo, 30, downed 4 1/2 more wieners than prior champion Sonya “Black Widow” Thomas, 48, of Alexandria, Virginia, who devoured 34 hot dogs.

“Probably would have hit 80 Hot Dogs without that lost time”, he tweeted.

A highly anticipated rematch is set to punctuate this year’s July Fourth hot dog eating contest on Coney Island’s famed boardwalk.

So, Chestnut reclaimed his Mustard Yellow International Belt and his spot in the hot dog eating ‘kitchen of fame’.

The women’s competition will feature defending champion Miki Sudo, three-time victor Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas and others.

Right out of the gate, Chestnut and Stonie laid down the law, distancing themselves away from the pack.

Stonie, 24, just couldn’t keep up with Chestnut’s seven hot dogs and buns per minute, finishing only 53 hot dogs and buns.
