The price increase is a sizable $2,990 for the new model.

The 2016 Camaro starts at a suggested retail price of $26,695 for the 1LT version, while the most powerful Camaro SS ever starts at $37,295 for the 1SS.
It’s a good thing that the configurator was launched on a Friday so you don’t have to feel so guilty about spending part of your day building your ideal Chevrolet Camaro and daydreaming about it. The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro should start arriving in dealerships later this year, with the convertible rolling out early in 2016.
As far as standard features are concerned, the 2016 Camaro offers LED daytime running lights, keyless access with push-button start/stop, a rearview camera, electronic parking brake and a flat-bottomed steering wheel wrapped around in leather.
“For the fifth-gen Camaro, almost two-thirds of Camaro SS buyers selected the 2SS trim”, said Todd Christensen, Camaro marketing manager. “I think that vehicle will surprise a lot of people with how fast it is, how much fun it is and how fuel efficient it is”. Chevy is nixing the previous LS entry-level trim level from the Camaro lineup for 2016, leaving the 1LT as the entry point into the range. The key reason that some people might be shocked by the effective price hikes for the 2016 model year is that the Camaro is significantly more expensive than the Ford Mustang – and while the Camaro might have more power, the big price gap between the two most popular American muscle cars could send some buyers to the Mustang. It includes 20-inch aluminum wheels, a rear spoiler, RS badging in the grille and upgraded headlights and taillamps.

The smallest is the new 2.0L Turbo engine that generates 275 hp, enough to deliver a 0-60 time under six seconds and will still return more than 30 mpg on the highway (GM-estimated). The base-model 1LT packs more standard equipment and a slightly lower starting MSRP than last year’s, including MyLink with Apple CarPlay capability, OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot, power seats, and a Drive Mode Selector. The 330-horse 3.6-liter V6 is optional on 1LT and 2LT models. Performance features on the 1SS include cooling systems for the differential, transmission and engine oil, Brembo brakes with four-piston front and rear calipers, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 run-flat tires, Active Rev Matching and limited slip differential (for manual transmission models only) and a Configurable Driver Information Center.
