Chevy believes intently in the new Camaro.
It goes 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds and runs the quarter-mile in 11.4 seconds at 127 miles per hour, drawing its brawn from a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 that makes 650 horsepower.
For those wondering, the 0-60 times for the Challenger with the 8-speed automatic transmission vary, with the quickest being 3.5 and my personal best being a 3.6 – also on an unprepped track with stock tires.
General Motors Co. on Monday announced pricing for the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, the most powerful production Camaro it has ever built.
The Camaro LT 1LE hits 60 in 5.2 seconds.
Said to weigh 100kg lighter than a regular Camaro, the ZL1 also gains plenty of under the skin weight-saving that includes a pair of Recaro bucket seats. Comparatively, the SS 1LE reaches 60 in 4.2 seconds.
The optional 2017 Camaro 1LE package starts at $4,500 on Camaro V6 LT coupe models and $6,500 on the V8 1SS coupe model. Max cornering on the LT 1LE is 0.97 g, compared with 1.02 g max cornering on the SS 1LE.
And at $62,135 for the ZL1 coupe and $69,135 for the drop-top, both cars are as competitive on price as they are in terms of performance.
More money will get you even more performance in the V8-powered SS with the 1LE package, going for $44,400 and borrowing some of the ZL1 amenities – suspension elements (Magnetic Ride dampers, springs, and stabilizer bars), the electronic limited-slip differential, or six-piston Brembo calipers in front with bigger rotors.

The latest suggestions, from within GM, is that a RHD Camaro could be feasible, if the numbers work, around mid-life update time later in the decade, or when the seventh generation arrives around 2021.
