As per the Interpol protocol, India could get custody of Rajan’s mobile phone and laptop, provided the Indian intel agencies manage to convince the Indonesian Police.

India’s first Secretary to Jakarta, Sanjiv Kumar Agrawal met Chhota Rajan today in Bali.

Special police commandos have been provided for the security of the officials who are in Bali.

Rajan and Dawood notoriously parted ways after the blasts.

Rajan may have been arrested only to protect his life from the Dawood gang. There are also six cases registered by the Delhi police. Intelligence sources said he had smiled at Indonesian officials and appeared unsurprised that he was being arrested. Former officials of the security agencies have said Rajan could have surrendered in the face of poor health and threats from Dawood and his top lieutenant Chhota Shakeel.

Their suspicions were confirmed by an anonymous phone call to Australian federal police which revealed the fugitive gangster’s passport details and confirmed that he was indeed in Australia.

Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Gurjit Singh said on Friday that the process relating to Rajan’s deportation to India has already begun but there is no deadline for it.

It is yet to be seen if the Indonesian authorities would have any conditions before handing over Rajan.

The mobile phone and laptop of jailed don Chhota Rajan are now in the possession of the Indonesian Police.

The joint team of officers from CBI, the Mumbai Police and the Delhi Police will try for his deportation to India. Ansari will be in Indonesia till November 4.
