Chicago Bears Preview: Seattle Columnist on Seahawks, Bears Matchup
Including the Super Bowl loss to New England, the Seahawks have held fourth-quarter leads in each of their last three games and lost.

For that matter, both starting cornerbacks went to the bench for several plays as defensive coordinator Vic Fangio tried to see what he had behind them in former Dallas Cowboys seventh-round draft pick Terrance Mitchell.
“I think 0-2 worries me more than no sacks”, he said. Defensive end Ego Ferguson, who missed Sunday’s game, was also limited with a knee ailment, and Marquess Wilson, Matt Slauson, Pernell McPhee, and Tracy Porter were all limited during the team’s workouts.
Jay Cutler was out on the practice field with teammates on Wednesday but the Bears quarterback was more in the role of assistant coach for Jimmy Clausen and David Fales, not starting quarterback. That said Seattle does have some work on its hands as it prepares for back-to-back home dates with Chicago and Detroit, respectively the next two weeks. The Chicago Bears ground game is averaging 149 yards per contest, and Matt Forte leads the way with 202 yards and one touchdown.
So let’s turn our attention to Jimmy Clausen, who will be the starter against Seattle. The Bears’ offense is going to suffer a lot of three-and-outs. Chicago’s defense allowed a combined 74 points through Week 2 with 42 of the points coming from passing touchdowns. We like moving him around and putting him in different spots.
Seattle is going to be fired up for this game. You had better believe the Seahawks will be fired up for their home opener and looking to right the ship against a hobbled and stunned Bears team.
The Bears were also without wide receiver Eddie Royal on Wednesday, as he deals with back and hip injuries.
Backup quarterback Jimmy Clausen replaced Cutler in the game and will also be the starter in his absence. Marshawn Lynch had only 41 yards in 15 attempts.
This will mark the first time the Bears have played in Seattle since 2009, when a late touchdown pass to Devin Hester sealed a 25-19 win for Chicago. He will need some other type of catalyst this week because Clausen isn’t the runner Cutler can be. Josh McCown may be back in contention this week for the Browns after sitting out week two with a concussion but Jay Cutler of the Bears and the Saints’ Drew Brees are both now listed as questionable.
O’Shaughnessy and the Chiefs play another primetime national television game this week against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Monday Night Football.

Is it just me or is the Bears’ new coach getting a little testy before the real flames have even started to heat up? Joshua Bellamy had a quality performance for the Bears, pulling in one receptions for 48 yards. The Chicago Tribune Bears’ beat reporter has watched the team during their first two games of the season and shared his thoughts on Tuesday’s edition of Sports Feed.
