Chicago Bears trade defensive end Jared Allen to Panthers, report says
The signing of Allen was under Phil Emery’s regime and it’s pretty clear new general manager Ryan Pace is trying to fix the bleeding of that era. €œ ” We appreciate Jared’€™s contributions and wish him the best in Carolina”. Allen has not been on a playoff team since he was on the 2012 Minnesota Vikings.

Pending the Monday Night game, the Panthers are seventh in the National Football League with seven sacks through three weeks.
With the Bears switching to a 3-4 defense this season under first-year coordinator Vic Fangio, Allen was moved from defensive end to outside linebacker. At the time of the announcement, the Bears sounded confident that Allen would fit in.
Allen had originally signed a four-year, $32 million deal with the Bears, but the structure of the contract essentially made it a two-year deal with no guaranteed money on the contract for 2016 and 2017. Unfortunately for Chicago, Allen didn’t live up to his price tag, notching just 5.5 sacks in what was a miserable season for the 5-11 Bears. The Panthers will only absorb Allen’s base salary of $1 million this year. Don’t overlook that fact either as he moves from a rebuilding effort to a team with BIG GOALS this season. Matt Forte is supposedly on the trade block. With that at mind, the Bears probably want something in return for him.
Then there is the case of Jay Cutler.
The trade will become official once Allen passes a physical, team spokesman Steven Drummond told The Associated Press.

The new regime is looking to clean house and put in their players. He hasn’t had a single sack yet and the Bears are looking to be fighting for the highest draft pick, so with that and the scheme mismatch they chose to jettison the veteran to whoever was willing.
