Kane and his lawyer haven’t spoken publicly since Cambria told USA Today that some of the statements that have been made against the three-time Stanley Cup champion are “completely inaccurate”.

Frank A. Sedita III, the Erie County District Attorney spearheading the probe, has often refused to so much as acknowledge the presence of an investigation, simply referring to the probe to reporters as the “Kane matter”.

Investigators have met with Patrick Kane as part of their investigation into a rape accusation against the Chicago Blackhawks all-star, two law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation have told The Buffalo News. NBC 5’s Trina Orlando reports live from Buffalo.

The meeting took place at Cambria’s office, according to both sources.

“These things are being said as if they are facts”, Cambria said days after the unnamed accuser alerted cops.

A woman has accused Kane of raping her in the early morning hours of August 2 after she and a friend returned to his house in Hamburg after they met at Skybar in Buffalo earlier in the night.

Although Kane, 26, has yet to be charged with a crime, EA Sports dropped him as a cover boy for its upcoming National Hockey League 16 video game two weeks ago. Shortly after the first report, police in New York confirmed their investigation into Kane’s connection to the incident.

It has since been reported that the woman who accuses Kane of raping her was accompanying a friend who wanted to go to the Blackhawks player’s house.

The woman went to the hospital and had a rape kit administered after the alleged sexual assault.
