Derren Sorells, 22, and Darwin Sorells Jr., 26, were both charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of attempted first degree murder, according to a statement from Chicago Police. The mother of four was caught in the crossfire of a shooting while pushing her three-week-old infant in a stroller near Dulles School of Excellence.

Police said, the Sorells brothers were targeting a for-hire driver, because he was not from the area.

Wade, who has spoken out about gun violence in the past, expressed his sorrow and frustration on Twitter, saying, “Another act of senseless gun violence”.

“These two offenders are the prime example”, said Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson. “When will enough be enough?”

Family spokesman Pastor Edward Jones told NBC Chicago that Aldridge was just looking for a better life.

Aldridge, whose cousin Dwyane Wade will suit up for the Chicago Bulls in the 2016-17 National Basketball Association season, was shot several times and eventually died later on Friday from her wounds.

Wade has reacted to his cousin’s shooting only online, tweeting Friday: “My cousin was killed today in Chicago”. Chicago recorded 65 murders in July, the most seen during that month since 2006.

Nonetheless, Jolinda Wade said that the family will still be trying to help people like the ones who committed the shooting, with the hope of changing lives.

Guglielmi described Derren Sorrells as a “documented member” of a Chicago gang called the Gangster Disciples and the older Sorrells as a “co-conspirator” who was “let out early” on a sentence of six years after his conviction on a gun charge from 2013.

Aldridge was walking the child in a stroller with a man when the Sorrells brothers approached from behind and opened fire. The NBA star’s nephew Darin Johnson was shot twice in the leg in 2012, but recovered. That’s also more than 80 percent higher than at the same point in 2014, when the city ended the year with just over 400 homicides – the least in a half-century.

Two brothers were arrested in connection with the murder of Nykea Aldridge, who was fatally shot on Chicago’s south side on Friday. “We’re still going to help empower people like the one who senselessly shot my niece in the head”.

Aldridge’s community and family continues to mourn her death.

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is sidestepping questions about the flow of guns into IL from his state as the USA presidential campaign delves into the issue of Chicago violence.

Aldridge’s death became a political football after Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump tweeted about the shooting, saying: “Just what I have been saying”.

Wade also tweeted yesterday morning: “The city of Chicago is hurting”.
