Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson spoke passionately about Aldridge’s murder at a press conference Sunday. “How often do we have to stand at a podium like this, demanding from our judicial and policy partners some type of resolution?”

A police spokesman said that both 26-year-old Darwin Sorrels Jr. and 22-year-old Derren Sorrels were charged overnight.
Police say the 32-year-old mother of four was pushing her baby in a stroller near a school on the city’s South Side where she’d planned to register her children when she was shot and killed. The baby was not injured.
Chicago police said she was killed Friday when two males walked up and fired shots at a third man but hit Aldridge in the head and arm. The man escaped unharmed and helped police track down his would-be killers.
Wade, a native of Chicago who signed with the Chicago Bulls in July after 13 years with the Miami Heat, posted on Twitter: “My cousin was killed today in Chicago”.
Johnson said behavior of those who repeatedly commit crimes doesn’t change despite time in prison.
Her life “was cut short by gunfire by two convicted felons”, Johnson said. “Clearly, they don’t think there’s a outcome to their actions”. He was paroled in early February.

According to Guglielmi, Sorells is allegedly on parole for a gun charge. He also is a documented member of the Gangster Disciples gang, according to Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. On Facebook, Chicago police said both brothers have now been charged with murder and attempted murder in Nykea’s slaying. He took to his Twitter account to mourn his cousin’s death.
He and his mother, pastor Jolinda Wade, participated in a town hall meeting in Chicago on gun violence hosted by ESPN on Thursday, via satellite.
Wade also tweeted Saturday morning: “The city of Chicago is hurting”. When Tapper noted that police say many guns from Indiana make their way into the city, Pence replied: “In Indiana, we know what most Americans know, is that law – that firearms in the hands of law-abiding citizens makes our communities more safe, not less safe”.
The ever articulate position that black people shouldn’t be shot is what candidate Trump considers to be his general election pivot in order to curry favor among African American voters with recent polling showing the candidate only garnering 8% support among the black electorate. “Just what I’ve been saying”.

The only public comment Dwyane Wade has made regarding the tragic slaying of his cousin has been by way of Twitter, CLTV wrote that he sent out a series of tweets on Saturday about the senseless shooting, beginning with a simple “RIP Nykea Aldridge…”
