Chicago opens practice window for rookie receiver

When they placed White on the physically-unable-to-perform list following surgery to fix a stress fracture in his shin, the Bears had until Tuesday to make a decision if he could join the team for practice. “I’m not closing the door on anything”, he said.

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte is expected to play against the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving, and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is hopeful to play.

Forte has been around the league long enough to understand that a few people don’t even want to wait that long before installing Langford into the role Forte’s played since 2008. After the 21-day window, which will come towards the end of December, White will either be shifted to the active roster, where he’ll have two regular season games remaining to play, or the season-ending injury list. He is still feeling some pain and is not able to run 100 percent.

“We’re just still progressing, business as usual”, said Fox.

As White, the seventh overall pick, has sat out his rookie season, the team has tried to foster for him as much of a normal in-season experience as possible. He was to start on the other side of Alshon Jeffery, forming a formidable duo with him.

The West Virginia star had surgery August 23 and a titanium rod was place in his left leg for stability. He also has to be careful not to push himself too hard. “I actually like it because now going forward I’m not going to have to play every single play or every down”, he said.
