The Chicago Tribune reports that a tent at the Wood Dale Prairie Fest collapsed during a storm on Sunday afternoon.
Lollapalooza organizers say they made the decision after the National Weather Service and six onsite weather monitors predicted strong storms with possible lightning. Concertgoers retreated from Grant Park to three pre-established shelters, but the festivals gates soon reopened.
Almost 300,000 people gathered at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois this weekend to watch over 150 bands and musicians perform at the Lollapalooza music festival.
As a result, Sunday night headliner Florence and the Machine were forced to end their set early, but not before giving fans one of the most surreal performances in recent memory.
“Our first priority is always the safety of our fans, staff and artists”, Sandee Fenton, director of publicity for C3 Presents, said in a statement.

According to Lollapalooza’s website, the festival was due to resume at 4:00 p.m. Central Time with an adjusted schedule announced shortly thereafter.
