Chicago White Sox pull off ridiculous triple play

Mat Latos pitched six solid innings for his fourth consecutive win, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Texas Rangers 4-1 on Sunday.

An inning later, the grinder-ball continued with right fielder Adam Eaton leading off with a double, then giving the Sox a 2 – 0 lead after a sacrifice bunt by Austin Jackson and sacrifice fly courtesy of Jose Abreu. Rodon gave up a solo home run to Ian Desmond (2) in the top of the 2nd inning but had perhaps his best outing of the year as he went 6 2/3 innings and gave up just two hits and two walks while striking out seven Rangers hitters.

Poor baserunning by the Rangers led to the first ever 9-3-2-6-2-5 triple play ever recorded in Major League Baseball history and an amusing viewing experience, too. “I thought tonight we got guys on, we got guys in, we got them over”. RHP Miguel Gonzalez will start for the White Sox on Monday against Toronto.

The Rangers were swept in a series of three games or more for the first time since last July by the Angels.

On Saturday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field, they were shaking their heads in disbelief as the White Sox won a fun, back and forth, contest 4-3 on a bases-loaded, walk-off single by Jose Abreu in the 11th inning. Jerry Sands added another run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single that scored Lawrie, giving the Sox a 5-0 lead through six innings. “It does not look good, it does feel good for anybody other than the White Sox and the White Sox fans”.

Will it be yet another low-scoring game between the Rangers and White Sox when the two teams meet in Chicago today at 2:10PM ET?

White Sox starter Carlos Rodon left with two outs in the seventh, having allowed just two hits.

1 run, 2 hits, 1 error, 2 left on. “I was kind of running on fumes there, the last part, and I was lucky to get a ground ball”. Coming into the game on Saturday afternoon, Lewis had gone 26 innings over three starts at The Cell since returning to Texas in 2010. Cabera walked and Avisail Garcia was hit by a pitch before Dioner Navarro singled to center to score Cabrera with the go-ahead run. Brett Lawrie had a two-run double in a three-run sixth off Rangers starter Martin Perez (0-2). “It’s about the legs and the body being ready to perform continually, not intermittently”, Banister said. It was Martinez’s first appearance since being recalled from Triple A Round Rock on April 16… Fielder attempted to go back to third, but Beltre was already on his way there. 154 over the first 13 games and Abreu ended an 0-for-18 slump with his game-winning hit. Third baseman Todd Frazier eventually tagged Fielder in a rundown to finish the triple play.

On Thursday, he was 2-for-2 – including a two-run homer in the fifth inning off White Sox left-hander John Danks as the Angels went on a 3-2 victory to salvage a series split. Frazier grounded out, third baseman Beltre to first baseman Moreland.
