But some conservatives are trying to block nomination of the NY real estate developer.

Kansas delegates to the Republican National Convention are showing little appetite for a struggling, last-minute effort to block Donald Trump’s presidential nomination, even though a lot of them are bound to back other candidates.
Several hundred law enforcement officers from across the country have been sworn in as “special police officers” for the Republican National Convention.
Donald Trump introduced Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate on Saturday, calling him “my partner in this campaign” and his first and best choice to join him on a winning Republican presidential ticket. “This year, more than others, almost every minute of the speeches, comments, tweets and every step the candidates make has been broadcast in real time”. Not only must he rally the party’s faithful, he also needs to unify them and win their trust. To make sure all those conventiongoers are safe and secure, Cleveland police are asking the city’s homeless population to keep an eye out for threats.
“The official proceedings are pretty much set”. But a decent-sized chunk of it also has to do with the fact that Trump’s affiliation with the Republican Party is both relatively loose and relatively recent. Delegates are expected to approve the convention’s rules when the gathering begins Monday.
Those speeches will also provide plenty of opportunity for people to address platform planks they feel are important. In Cleveland, that means the Clinton campaign will be looking to get some attention during Donald Trump’s four-day coronation.
Instead, as the largest delegation, space was limited to house the 172 delegates, along with 169 alternates in one location.
Like McInerney, she said the convention may be more wild outside the hall than in it.
Trump’s no-holds-barred brand of politics – from mocking his rivals to branding illegal immigrants from Mexico as “rapists” – is keeping away many prominent Republicans, including the Bush clan, as well as major corporations such as Apple, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo.
“I actually think if Utah is as competitive in the fall as it looks today, Trump won’t go to the state, and he shouldn’t”, Todd said.
But that’s not the case for California’s Trump delegates, who are streaming into Cleveland this weekend.
When they were chosen as delegates months ago, there was still talk of a contested convention and becoming “unbound” after the first three votes, allowing them to vote for anyone.
Burton – who said he, too, plans on rejecting any attempt to replace Trump as the nominee – acknowledges the “new energy” that new leadership is bringing the party, but he can’t match Ledbetter’s smoldering intensity for Trump.
President George H.W. Bush, says he’s “retired from politics”. “They want all the power and they don’t care about the grass roots”.
Are Minnesotans involved in the “Never Trump” movement that aims to stop him at the convention?
The convention is scheduled to convene at 1 p.m. on Monday. Mark Kirk, the USA senator from IL, will stay home. Just ask Donald Trump, who’s promised a “monumentally magnificent” display of stagecraft at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
Various groups are planning protests. “There’s an activity from the time you wake up to way after I’ll be asleep”.
“It’s obviously been interesting and stressful, but I believe as a politico you always feel that way toward elections, especially presidential”, Morey said.
Still, Todd said it’s more likely Utah Republicans unhappy with Trump will turn to a third party candidate like Libertarian Gary Johnson than Clinton.

Brandishing his running mate’s job-creating credentials, Trump ticked through a list of statistics he said showed how Pence had pulled IN out of economic recessions: an unemployment rate that fell to less than 5 percent on his watch, an uptick IN the labor force and a decrease IN IN residents on unemployment insurance.
