Chiefs chairman expects NFL team to play in LA next season
Malcolm Smith (53) and safety Charles Woodson (24) during the first half of an NFL football game in Kansas City, Mo., Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016.

That changes, though, and Oakland has shown enough stability over the last two seasons that matching the production of Kansas City this year shouldn’t just be thought of as a possibility. It was the seventh catch of the season for Harris, and the first of the former college basketball player’s career. Mentally, I know it’s over. “But at the same time, it’ll push you, because no matter what we finish, it’s not where we want to be”.
He took a deep breath and smiled.
From a pure football fan standpoint, these articles by the Raiders’ safety point out the highs and lows over his career.
And that pretty much describes Charles Woodson’s career.
Mistakes happen but it was very unusual to see this from Smith, especially the pick six because that was simply a bad pass. It also led to a Raiders player, who lost the game and is not going to the playoffs, taunting the Chiefs as he scored.
“It didn’t end like you wanted it to end”, Woodson said, “but the great thing about the team is they fought all the way to the end”. The shenanigans didn’t result in a flag as the Raiders trailed with 5:35 on the clock and a crucial drive continuing, but could have if the zebra-clad men on the field weren’t in the best of moods. There is promise in the future, building blocks secured and lessons learned.
The performance this year has ended any doubts raised when Oakland went 3-13 in 2014 of whether Carr is the person to build the offense around. “When the ball comes out on time, guys are getting open on time, the protection holds up”. “He helped me out a lot”.
Carr’s numbers have taken a significant dip since the calendar turned to December, but neither he nor head coach Jack Del Rio seems overly concerned about it, pointing instead to the bottom line.
“I think he’s had a really strong year”, Del Rio said. “I want people to say I left it all out on the field, nothing more and nothing less. They don’t get caught up in the accolades; they just go out and play”.
“The (reality that I’ve retired) has set in”.
He did. But he has more of a legacy, much of it specific to Oakland. They are loaded with young talent, have a mix of savvy veterans who can still perform, and he’s accumulated a warchest of money that will give him incredible flexibility in attracting new free agents as well as being able to re-sign the young stars.
The Raiders made things interesting at the end, however.
As disappointing as it was to miss out on a chance for a. 500 record, the Raiders got what they deserved, and 7-9 sounds just and fair.

In most cities in nearly any season, Sunday would represent a merciful conclusion to a disappointing campaign. Instead, it became the “Tuck Rule”. The Chargers have sought a new home since 2008, three years after their stadium was expanded to accommodate Super Bowls.
