Chiefs’ Jamaal Charles ruled out against Texans

It could have been worse if not for an interception by Marcus Peters at the goal line on Houston’s first drive of the game.

Now with a 2-0 record we can look over the team and see which players are seeing their stock rise for the undefeated Texans. His rehab process didn’t go quite as the Chiefs planned and he missed the season’s first two games, or two more than the team initially believed he would miss.

Watt started that playoff game despite having several torn muscles in his core. Granted, majority were from the first quarter, but those are still great numbers from a player that a lot of people thought the Texans reached for in the draft. J.J. Watt shoved him out of the way with one hand and pounced on it, showing he was getting back to his old self after July back surgery.

Houston wasted no time capitalizing off the Chiefs’ first turnover, a high snap from the center. “In that case, he’s competing against a guy and made a nice play on the ball, but can’t do it – you wag your finger, they’re going to get you”.

This season, Bill O’Brien’s squad has won its first two games, the latest a 19-12 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at Houston. Considering he hasn’t played since Week 5 of last season, it’s reasonable to think Charles won’t receive a full workload right away, and the effectiveness of both Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West in his absence gives Kansas City little reason to force Charles back into action. In fact, the defense shut out the offense, the Chiefs’ only points coming from four Cairo Santos field goals. Ware fumbled in the first half, leading to the Texans’ second field goal of the game.

John Simon forced the last fumble of the half on his strip-sack of Smith. The Texans defense was stout in their week 1 win, they put on just as dominant performance today. Jadeveon Clowney, the top overall pick in 2014, continued to be disruptive and had three tackles, including one for a loss, two quarterback hits and batted down one of Smith’s passes. We’ll continue to work and get better, and we will get better.

After the Week 1 victory, Osweiler had said he was focused on improving the production in the red zone and not settling for field goals. “We had to beat the Chiefs”.

“No, I wouldn’t rule it out”, Reid said.

“I thought he practiced better last week”, Reid said of Charles.

Don’t worry. Brock Osweiler and the Texans haven’t abandoned the ground game.

Griffin noted the team has to focus on what the league wants and determine how they need to adjust.

After a slow Week 1 J.J. Watt looked much more like a potential Defensive Player of the Year on Sunday
