Chiefs lament miscues, Chargers lamenting overtime loss
Kansas City needed 10 plays to march 75 yards in overtime, and Smith finished off one of the biggest comebacks in franchise history with his keeper from the 2-yard line on third-and-goal. A 33-yard field goal by Cairo Santos chopped the margin to seven and Kansas City tied it up with 63 seconds to play on a 5-yard touchdown scamper by running back Spencer Ware.

San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen went down with a knee injury on Sunday during the first half against the Chiefs.
The same goes for San Diego. “Give him the credit”. He had six catches for 74 yards, picking up a crucial third down that kept the winning overtime drive alive.
Carr led the Raiders to 22 fourth-quarter points, upstaging Drew Brees’ 14th 400-yard passing game, which tied Peyton Manning for an National Football League record.
GORDON WAS GOOD: Melvin Gordon ran for the first two touchdowns of his career Sunday.
The Chiefs, of course, rallied to win 11 straight games and earn their first playoff victory in 22 years following last year’s miserable start. “At the end of the day, we’ve got to close it”. It was his way of standing beside 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s stance on social injustice. “Coach said it was OK if I wanted to express my thoughts about what I wanted to do, so I just expressed it”. It gave them good field position and we still have to stop them. The Chiefs said in a statement they made a decision to lock arms in a show of solidarity. Ware, starting in place of the inactive Jamaal Charles, produced 199 yards from scrimmage.
The Chiefs played without star pass rusher Justin Houston, who could be out until November as he recovers from ACL surgery in February. The four-time Pro Bowl running back is still recovering from surgery last season to fix his ACL and was inactive Sunday. The Chargers were without defensive end Joey Bosa, the third pick in April’s draft, who remained on the exempt list after a lengthy holdout.
Allen had 67 catches for 725 yards and four touchdown catches last season through eight games and was well on his way to his second 1,000-yard season, but he suffered a kidney laceration in the eighth game and missed the rest of the season.
“The guy’s such a spark for us, just even through his play”, Smith said.

As with most players on the Chiefs this week, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and tight end Travis Kelce were largely non-factors in the first half, before putting up respectable stat lines in the second half.
