Chiefs, LB Tamba Hali agree to 3-year contract
KC added depth to the linebacker position by bringing back Frank Zombo and signing former Tennessee Titan linebacker Jonathan Massaquoi.

The biggest addition is Schwartz, who started every game over the past four seasons for the Cleveland Browns.
The Chiefs and linebacker Tamba Hali have agreed to a three-year deal to keep the six-time Pro Bowler in Kansas City for the remainder of his career, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The former Cal standout is the brother of offensive guard Geoff Schwartz, one of the first to sign with general manager John Dorsey and coach Andy Reid after they took over the Chiefs.
Hali joined the Chiefs in 2006 as a first-round draft pick from Penn State. Hali and Johnson were drafted by the Chiefs and have spent their entire careers in Kansas City, while Howard is coming off a breakthrough season. “We are pleased he is staying in Kansas City.” .
In 15 games last season, Hali had 48 combined tackles, 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass defensed.
The Chiefs recently re-signed Tamba Hali, and they still have Justin Houston and 2014 first-round pick Dee Ford in the mix at outside linebacker.
The former second-round pick was among the top offensive tackles graded by Pro Football Focus past year, and his job shutting down the Broncos’ Von Miller no doubt caught the Chiefs’ attention. The Chiefs were hit with a $250,000 fine, while Head Coach Andy Reid was docked $50,000 and General Manager John Dorsey $25,000 for their roles in the negotiations.
They re-signed linebacker Derrick Johnson to a three-year, $21 million deal.

The club is accused of talking directly to wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, then a free agent, during the negotiating window. The Chiefs said in a statement they are considering whether to appeal the penalties.
