Chiefs overcome 17-point deficit, beat Chargers 33-27 in OT

Graham had 48 catches but only two touchdowns in 2015, his first season with the Seahawks. After he suffered a lacerated kidney in Baltimore the Chargers fell to a bottom-10 passing team. As daunting as the KC’s front seven is, Allen’s presence at the slot will allow Rivers to get rid of the ball quicker from the pocket, and the Chargers have a lot better chance of moving the chain.

In fact, the Chargers still led 27-10 in the fourth quarter when Josh Lambo missed a 54-yard field goal, and the momentum swung to Kansas City.

Why the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense is going to be too much for the San Diego Chargers’ defense.

After forcing a punt the Bolts got right back to work, this time taking it slow.

Road trip! The closest to “home” Gordon and the Chargers will play this season will be in Indianapolis Sept. 25 and in Cleveland on Christmas Eve.

CBS Sports will televise the game, which will air in San Diego on KFMB-TV Channel 8 and in Los Angeles and Orange County on KCBS-TV Channel 2. But perhaps most troubling was the play of the Chargers’ porous defense, which they hope to have shored up by signing nose tackle Brandon Mebane and drafting defensive end Joey Bosa third overall.

Two plays later linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu also sacked Smith, a 14-yard loss to force a punt and set up the Bolts at the KC 38 yard line. Okine went undrafted out of Florida in 2013 and has spent time in the Arena League and with the Houston Texans and the Indianapolis Colts. San Diego’s defense forced another punt but on the next offensive possession Allen went down and the Bolts were not the same.

Alex Smith shows some fire on the field from time to time, but he’s mostly reserved. Meanwhile, the Chiefs offense was finding its feet. Alex Smith led the Chiefs to a pair of touchdowns around a field goal by Cairo Santos, the tying score coming on a touchdown run by Spencer Ware.

West led the Chiefs in rushing last season with 634 yards and four touchdowns in 160 carries, but Ware scored more touchdowns (six) on half the carries (72) and rushed for 403 yards, all while boasting a higher yards-per-carry average (5.6).

“He has a knack for making plays when you need them”, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said.

Kansas City, meanwhile, found the offensive life that was nowhere to be seen in the first half and pulled off the biggest comeback in franchise history. The drive was helped when Smith hit Maclin inside the 15 and Chargers safety Jahleel Addae lowered his helmet in to the defenseless receiver. Jamaal Charles is not expected to play for Kansas City, meaning Spencer Ware will likely get a bulk of the workload.
