Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith enjoying best season
Jackson had also interviewed with the San Francisco 49ers and was scheduled to meet later this week with the New York Giants, but Haslam was not going to be outbid for a coach he coveted. Coughlin who resigned last week after 12 seasons with NY said last that he would be open to coaching again if felt the situation was right.

While it remains to be seen if the Eagles hire Pederson, who won’t be available while the Chiefs are alive in the playoffs, he believes the time spent with Reid will help if he ultimately lands a head coaching position.
While Coughlin has the most impressive resume of all Eagles’ candidates, he is 31 years older than McAdoo. “From what I’m hearing, they’ve stopped their interviews and it’s up to them to get together and make a decision”. This doesn’t mean they are done it just means they’re done this week and it will possible continue next week when Luire is back. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, with his three previous hires, has gone with coaches on the younger side and that were conceivably on the upward trend.
Pederson worked directly under former Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and when he followed Reid to the Chiefs, he also worked alongside former Eagles offensive coordinator and former Vikings coach Brad Childress.
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce also thinks Pederson has the chops to be a head coach, whether it happens this year in Philadelphia or somewhere else.
Lurie fired Kelly six days before the final game of the season to in his words, “get a head start” on the coaching search.
So far the Eagles organization has met with such candidates including Pat Shurmur, former Eagle Duce Staley, Doug Pederson and Adam Gase.
McAdoo was hired as the Giants Offensive Coordinator prior to the 2014 season and finished with the leagues 19th ranked offense, according to Football Outsiders. He was backup quarterback for the Eagles in 1999. The team would have to be a bit more ready-made and Lurie would have to be content with a go for broke approach to the next three or so seasons to seriously consider Coughlin. In his two years in NY, he’s gotten more out of his players than the sum of their parts. The qualities Lurie said he’s seeking in a new head coach include several social skills Kelly seemed to loathe.

I know it’s late to post this but there hasn’t been anything really to write about in the last two weeks as it’s just been rumors and nonsense. Haslam reportedly stayed away from the owner’s meetings, where topics like relocation to Los Angeles is being discussed, in order to focus on his own head coaching search. If that coach’s team loses, they are free to pursue him.
