This came after Cutler overcame a fourth-quarter interception against the Raiders last week to lead the Bears downfield for a game-winning field goal at Soldier Field.

This is bad news for an offense that has struggled to find any identity outside of what Charles brings to the team. On Sunday, following the Charles injury in the third quarter, West received five carries to two for Davis. However, Davis, now in his third season, has only averaged 3.4 yards per carry over his 215 career attempts. Mauga suffered a strained right groin in the previous week’s game against Cincinnati and did not take part in practice leading up to the Bears game.
Because while the Chiefs should be worrying about getting as much out of the film as possible from what should have been an ugly win over the Bears and keeping this franchise forward-facing with a trip to Minnesota looming, instead they’re scrambling to try to figure out how to replace the production of Jamaal Charles. Now after two ACL injuries and surgeries and climbing in age (running backs deteriorate quicker than most positions), the Chiefs need to move on. Chicago won the game 18-17.
Reid said one option already on the roster is receiver De’Anthony Thomas, who was listed as a running back a year ago. However, he should not expect the Chiefs to be the team that calls him. Neither managed much after Charles was hurt, with Maclin getting a 23-yard catch on the Chiefs’ final drive while Kelce unable to haul in any of his three targets afterward.
Last year, however, two running backs went in the first round in Todd Gurley (Rams) and Melvin Gordon (Chargers). The goal for doctors is to get Charles ready for next year.
Andy Reid also expressed interest in promoting practice squad running back Spencer Ware.
“We’ll look in-house first before we go outside”, Reid said. “They had a pretty good idea”, Reid said. That’s why we kept them.
Palmer, a 5-foot-11 Northern Illinois product has spent time on five different teams since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2012. Ben Tate is also expected to work out for the Chiefs.
After playing just eight games with the Browns, he was cut and picked up by the Vikings where he played just three games with the club.

Losing Jamaal Charles would certainly be a major hit to the 1-4 Chiefs.
