Chiefs unsure if RB Jamaal Charles will be ready for opener

“After his first ACL injury in 2011, Charles rushed for 1,509 yards the following season”, Robinson wrote. Head coach Andy Reid may have too many options to choose from, but that is a good problem to have as a head coach.

But it’s not ideal for Kansas City to probably be without Charles for Week 1, and who knows how long after that. It sounds like he’s iffy at best for the regular-season opener.

This season marks the second time in five years that Charles has had to battle back from an ACL tear.

He told ESPN, “I think Jamaal is going to need a little time to keep working to get himself back”.

For now, Ware is pegged for 144 yards on 31 carries and 51 receiving yards on 8 catches, scoring a combined 1.34 touchdowns this season. After having a solid training camp and preseason, Ware looks to put his name out as the team’s starting running back. Cook’s comparisons to Chiefs five-time 1,000 plus yard running back didn’t end with just one National Football League general manger, as an NFC West scout made the same comparison. This is a bit contrary to an earlier report that said Charles would receive a full workload if he returned healthy. The two combined to rush for more than 1,000 yards and score 11 touchdowns in Charles’ absence past year. However, Spencer Ware and Charcandrick West did a quite sufficient job in picking up the slack. He has, however, made the case for solidifying his main roster position in the last preseason game of the year against the Green Bay Packers. As much of a star as Charles is, this situation is easily survivable.
