Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Justin Cox was released Tuesday, a day after he was arrested.
The alleged incident occurred at an apartment complex in Starkville. He was later arrested in West Point and transferred back to Starkville where he was booked at 4 p.m.
The Clarion Ledger reports this is was the second time in less than a year that Cox was arrested and charged with domestic violence.
The Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office says Cox is still in custody and bond hasn’t been set, pending an arraignment today.
The Chiefs were reached for comment and the team is aware of the incident.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic violence and burglary last November, but those charges were dropped.
This arrest, however, was not Cox’s first run-in with the law.
Cox was signed by the Chiefs as a free agent and participated in off-season mini camps and OTAs.

This is Cox’s second arrest involving domestic violence in eight months. He sat out the Bulldogs’ final three games, including the Orange Bowl against Georgia Tech. Cox impressed scouts with his 4.36-second 40-yard dash, even though he was not ultimately selected during the NFL draft in May, according to The Clarion-Ledger.
