Child Car Seat Check Thursday
This week is Child Passenger Safety Week, and the Sullivan County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office wants to make sure your kids are properly secured while in the auto.

The Gloucester Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit will participate in the National Seat Check campaign this weekend. Nothing should be more important than the safety of your child. And while most families put kids in vehicle seats, the latest research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that 59 percent of auto seats are not installed correctly. “Even if we save one children’s life, this whole week by doing that, it’s well worth it”.
Louisiana State Police say 3 out of 4 children are not properly secured in their car-seats.
While choosing the right seat is a matter of personal preference, it is best to pick the seat that bests the child and the auto, read the directions and use the seat correctly on every trip.
Visit www.buckleupsc.com for information about South Carolina’s seat belt and child restraint law as well as a link to check for child safety seat recalls. Adjust the seat belt so the lap belt crosses the child’s upper thighs and the diagonal belt crosses the upper chest at a point between the neck and shoulder.

Uniformed personnel will be on hand to discuss Child Passenger Safety Week. The aforementioned is acceptable if the airbag is deactivated.
