They alleged that then child had died in the anti-encroachment drive. In the letter, the Delhi Chief Minister also drew Prabhu’s attention towards an old communique between the two regarding new Delhi Slum Rehabilitation and Relocation Policy, 2015, which is now under Union Ministry of Urban Development’s examination. “When police, RPF and railway officials gathered at the site it was noticed that the death of a child had occurred in one of the jhuggis at around 10am”. “In the ensuing melee we did not realise when a heap of clothes fell on her, which turned out to be fatal”, Anwar said, staring blankly. “It is causing serious problem for train operations. The government had promised to provide us a place to live, but that never happened”, he said.

New Delhi, Â A fresh confrontation between the Delhi government and the Centre erupted today over demolition of a slum cluster by railways here and death of a baby at the site, with an angry Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal protesting and moving to get the officials concerned booked for murder. There he slammed Delhi govt. for not doing anything and leaving slum dwellers homeless.

Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken also said that Kejriwal should have intervened while the drive was underway on Saturday and not afterwards. They were living there for two decades.

The former central minister also took to Twitter to target Kejriwal. “Entire 12 hrs of slum demolition or before- Kejriwal Ji didn’t intervene- Pickup the phone to speak to Rail Minister or move to court!” he tweeted.

The Delhi government on Monday blamed the Centre and the railways for what it termed an “inhuman” anti-encroachment drive in west Delhi and asked why it was carried out in the absence of a rehabilitation programme for those evicted.

Separate probes will probably be carried out into demolition drive and the kid’s dying. Were any arrangement made to rehabilitate these people? “These are supposed to be given to such people”, claimed Singh.
