China alerts spread as Beijing besieged by smog
The hazardous haze which engulfed Beijing prompting the government to issue first-ever red alert for heavy smog, dissipated today as the city woke up to clear skies. The alert, the highest possible warning level, was sounded yesterday and would last until midday on Thursday.
