Chinese ambassador Wu Chuntai held talks with Prachanda, the prime minister-in-waiting, and assured him of Beijing’s full cooperation.

China had already said in a statement that the change of regime in Kathmandu would not affect its ties with Nepal and it will hone its engagement with the new government in Nepal.
The Beijing tilt of former premier KP Sharma Oli’s government had angered New Delhi.
Responding to the request of Dahal to join in the government, Oli made clear that UML would not join in the government reason that the Nepali Congress and the UML should not be in the government together.
It further informed: During the meeting, Ambassador Wu said Chinese government, Chinese Communist Party and Chinese people will provide full support to a government that will take shape under Prachanda in a few days.
In the meeting with Wu, Prachanda told the visiting Chinese envoy that he is “all set to become the new PM” and sought favour of China and support to his government. Prachanda also told the envoy that agreements signed by Oli were a result of his initial push.
In fact, the Nepal-China agreements were the outcome of deals made by the government that he led earlier, according to a statement by Prachanda’s secretariat. Prachanda said his government will step up efforts to implement the Constitution and speed up efforts aimed at promoting political stability and peace, completing post-quake reconstruction works and other development initiatives.
Oli had invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to Kathmandu, and the Nepali and Chinese forest ministries had begun preparations for the high-level visit later this year.

Asked if the visit had suffered a setback because of recent political developments, he replied: “The visit was on the cards but was never finalised”.
